Liam McHale doesn't know if he will still be involved with Cavan next year.
Anthony Forde stepped down as a selector earlier this week and it remains to be seen if McHale will continue in his coaching role. Terry Hyland is expected to continue as manager.
"Terry has gone back as far as I know to be ratified by the clubs, and he rang me last week and said we'd sit down and have a chat. I don't expect to hear for another week," the former Mayo midfielder told the Irish Daily Star.
"I honestly don't know what the situation is. I think they want me to go back for another year, but I'm not sure."
McHale said the manner of Cavan's championship exit at the hands of Roscommon was bitterly disappointing.
"I thought we underachieved," he continued.
"We scored 1-17 and as a forwards coach I would be happy with that. You always say it, but the lads have improved.
"They are a very enthusiastic bunch of lads, but we didn't perform against Roscommon, especially in the second half."
