Kildare minor manager Brendan Hackett admits that it was a huge relief to get over Cavan in their All-Ireland MFC quarterfinal.

A 2-14 to 2-12 win over the Ulster side in a pulsating contest has earned the Lilywhites a place in the All-Ireland semi-final.

And the Kildare manager admitted to the Leinster Leader that quarterfinals are always tricky games especially for provincial winners.

"Quarterfinals are notoriously difficult to get past because it was like us when we lost the first game against Louth you are so relieved to get a second bite of the cherry," said Hackett.

"We knew Cavan would come and I thought they were quite nervous in the Ulster final and did not play to their potential and I was very weary of them. You go in as favourites and are expected to win."
