Michael Murphy is under no illusions about the task facing Donegal in next Saturday's huge All-Ireland SFC quarter-final against Mayo.

The game - arguably the biggest of the championship so far - is repeat of the 2012 All-Ireland final, which Donegal won, and the 2013 All-Ireland quarter-final, which Mayo won in emphatic fashion.

"We're just feeling hungry. Hunger to get right out there playing again. Mayo is going to be a massive challenge," the Donegal captain told the Irish Daily Star after his side's win over Galway.

"They have a number of threats all over the field. Coming from their defence through the midfield and then up front now, they've added a new dimension to their game. So it's going to be a huge game for us.

"And there are a huge amount of levels that we're going to have to move up to in order to compete with them next weekend.

"We're a group of footballers who are always hungry for success. It doesn't always go our way, but that's life.

"You're going to get the knocks as well as the successes in life. We've got a number of brilliant lads and we're very, very friendly as a group of players and we want to do the best for ourselves and do our best, more importantly, for Donegal.

"We know their (Mayo) threat having played them over the last number of years. In 2013, they gave us a lesson in how to play football, and it's something that we still have to take on the chin.

"It's up to us as a group to focus on that now and produce a performance in the All-Ireland quarter-final."
