Donegal defender Ryan McHugh admits that they are glad to have had an extra week to prepare for their All-Ireland SFC qualifier against Galway.

The Ulster side head to Croke Park on the back of a provincial final defeat, but unlike Cork, they have had an extra week to prepare for the game.

And McHugh stressed to the Donegal Democrat that the only way to get over the Ulster final defeat was to produce a performance in Croke Park on Saturday.

"It's a matter of now going up to Croke Park and producing a performance that we know we are capable of producing and hopefully that is good enough to get over Galway," said McHugh.

"Losing an Ulster title isn't easy. It's hard to get over. But we are a tight group and we are all best friends. We're going to get over the disappointment.

"Rory and his backroom team are going to have us well prepared and hopefully we can go up to Croke Park and put things right and hopefully get into an All-Ireland quarterfinal."
