Wexford manager David Power has stressed that the win over Down was just the latest step in the redevelopment of football in the county.

The Tipperary native hailed the win over the Ulster side in the qualifiers in what was the county's second big victory of the week, having won the Leinster JFC title just 48hrs earlier.

Power was adamant that the wins were just a stepping stone in where they wanted to get too as they prepare to face Derry in the next round of the qualifiers at Celtic Park.

Speaking to the Wexford People he said: "We will not get carried away. He added: "The redevelopment of Wexford football will continue so hopefully we can have a long summer. It's great to be still playing championship football in July."
