Derry's Ciaran McFaul knows only too well that Down will put it up to the Oak Leaf County in Sunday's Ulster SFC quarter-final.

McFaul, who has yet to win a championship match at senior intercounty level, hopes to break his duck this weekend but is expecting nothing easy from Jim McCorry's men:

"Down came to Celtic Park a couple of years ago and turned us over," he points out in The Belfast Telegraph. "They are now a Division One side whereas we have just slipped into Division Two so they will be coming to us in a very positive frame of mind.

"There is a lot of experience in their side no matter what anyone says and this will also make them very hard to beat."

Having missed most of the league due to ankle ligament damage, the Watty Graham's clubman hopes to get the nod from Brian McIver:

"I only played two games in the league and have been out of action since then, but my recovery has gone well. I would be prepared to play in any position on Sunday just as long as I get into the side.

"I enjoy playing at wing half back because I can come forward from there. When you are up in attack you are invariably surrounded by three or four opposing players because of the rigid defensive systems that teams tend to deploy these days."
