Lennon laments hectic schedule

Manager Mattie Lennon hit out at Tyrone's recent hectic schedule of games following their exit from the Nicky Rackard Cup last weekend.

The Red Hands' bid to retain the third tier hurling championship ended with a 0-14 to 1-16 semi-final defeat to Roscommon in Carrickmore, and Lennon felt the demands of playing 12 games in 13 weeks took a heavy toll on his players.

"Having played that many games, there were guys carrying niggles and knocks, and that does catch up with you, especially in a game like that, when you're playing in a semi-final, and it's small margins that count," he said in the Strabane Weekly News.

"Possibly there was a wee bit of mental fatigue, with being on the road for that length, and we came up a bit short.

"But I have nothing but admiration for that squad of players, and the character, and how they performed over the last year, over the last two years. It has been absolutely magnificent. I said that to them, that they have nothing to be ashamed of, they have done Tyrone hurling proud and they have brought it on leaps and bounds."
