gaacork.ie have revealed that former All-Ireland winner and All-Star defender Brian Murphy has rejoined the county's hurling squad.

The 32-year-old Bride Rovers clubman, who won All-Ireland SHC medals with the Rebels in 2004 and 2005, announced his retirement from inter-county hurling in the wake of the 2013 All-Ireland final defeat to Clare.

Murphy won the Young Hurler of the Year award in 2004 and an All-Star award in 2006. He is also the holder of 3 Munster SHC medals and 1 All-Ireland IHC medal.

It is a welcome boost for Jimmy Barry-Murphy's side who are without Christopher Joyce (cruciate) and Lorcan McLoughlin (collarbone) for the Munster SHC semi-final against Waterford on Sunday, June 7.
