Kevin McKernan felt that Brendan McArdle's farcical red card ruined the Division Two final.
The Down centre back was dismissed just before half time when he picked up an ultra-harsh second yellow card for an innocuous tug at Roscommon full forward Senan Kilbride and McKernan says the referee's decision turned the match into a damp squib:
"Benny McArdle, there isn't much dirt in him. You have to ask the question: why would Benny do that? We had possession at that time," the Burren ace points out in The Irish News.
"You would rather have had a good hard-hitting 15 against 15 match, which would have been good preparation for the championship, rather than a damp squib.
"But we fought hard. We were impressed with our tackling in the second half. We got a couple of good turnovers and the work rate was there, but there's only so long you can sustain that. It was unfortunate but we will move on from there."
