Denis Bastick says things came together nicely for Dublin as the national football league progressed.

The Dubs made an inauspicious start to the competition but found their rhythm as it progressed to capture their third successive Division One title.

"We put in a good performance there and we were deserved winners on the day," the veteran midfielder told The Irish Daily Mirror after the facile final victory over Cork. "But early on we were just trying to get our game plan right, get our positions right and get all that work done.

"We just came together over the last few games. The start of the league with the Sigerson and the U21, there are a lot of distractions. I suppose, when we settled down, we got some good performances and we pushed on.

"Everything came right on the day. We were after a performance. That's what we looked at and everything else followed."
