Leinster MHC: Westmeath come from behind

April 25, 2015

Westmeath minor hurling manager Johnny Greville

Westmeath 3-10

Carlow 1-14

Westmeath overturned a four point half-time deficit to claim the Leinster MHC spoils at Carlow's expense in Netwatch Cullen Park.

Second-half goals from Paddy Doody and Ciaran Doyle (penalty) were instrumental in the Lake County's success.

Despite Niall Mitchell getting the only goal of the opening 30 minutes, the team in maroon and white trailed by 1-4 to 0-11 at the halfway stage.

Westmeath fell further behind after the resumption when the hosts found the back of their net but, to their credit, they refused to throw in the towel and got their jsut rewards when Doody and Doyle raised green flags.

Johnny Greville's charges now advance to a play-off game against Offaly or Wexford.
