Tipp's win was news to Hampsey

Padraig Hampsey had no idea who Tyrone's opponents would be in the All-Ireland U21FC final.

The full back must have been the only person at yesterday evening's second semi-final in Markievicz Park who wasn't aware of Tipp's shock defeat of All-Ireland champions Dublin earlier in the day.

"Good stuff, looking forward to that (the final)," Hampsey replied when asked by TG4 presenter Micheal O Domhnaill as he picked up the man of the match award after Tyrone's 0-17 to 0-12 win over Roscommon if he had heard the other result.

Hampsey felt the Red Hands' tough Ulster campaign had prepared them well for the Rossies' challenge.

"We looked at the Roscommon and Galway game in the (Connacht) final and it was high scoring. We knew coming down here that it wasn't going to be like that, that it was going to be a dogfight and we're used to that," he said.
