The Kilkenny County Board are delighted to be hosting this weekend's NHL semi-finals.

That is according to county board treasurer Barry Hickey who states in the Kilkenny People that they 'are selling a bit of Kilkenny.'

Tipperary play Waterford and Cork take on Dublin in an attractive double header, which is set to fill the 24,000 capacity.

This will be the biggest double header ever held at the venue and Kilkenny are determined to put on a show at Nowlan Park.

"We are doing more than staging big games, we are selling a bit of Kilkenny," said Hickey. "Kilkenny and Nowlan Park have a big reputation for the staging of such matches, and we want to enhance it.

"The Park is seen as one of the leading hurling venues in the provinces, which can generate a great atmosphere for matches. There can be considerable spin-offs for the City and business interests, so Kilkenny can be a winner in many ways."
