Tyrone may have to take on Kerry in Sunday's must-win FL Division 1 encounter without Mickey Harte patrolling the sidelines.

Gaelic Life are reporting that, due to health reasons, the long-serving manager has been forced to miss his team's preparations this week and could also be absent in Healy Park on Sunday when his charges take on the Kingdom with their Division 1 status on the line.

It is understood that Harte underwent a minor medical procedure earlier this week and that his backroom team of Gavin Devlin and Peter Donnelly have overseen the Red Hands' training.

Harte's long-serving assistant manager Tony Donnelly, who departed the Tyrone backroom team at the end of last year, is apparently on standby to lend his experience in the event that the manager is unable to attend the game.

Tyrone need to win by at least two points to avoid the drop to Division 2.

Tyrone GAA released the following statement this evening:

"Tyrone Senior Football manager Mickey Harte underwent a surgical procedure on Monday and is now recovering at home. He will resume his managerial duties with the senior football team in the very near future.

"Coiste Contae Thir Eoghain, the players and backroom team wish Mickey a speedy recovery."
