Carew left wondering

Sligo manager Niall Carew admits that their second half performance against Clare has left him bewildered.

The Munster side outscored Sligo by 0-13 to 0-02 in the second half of their clash last Sunday as the Yeats County were opened up by the free running Clare forwards.

It was Sligo's third defeat of the campaign and Carew told the Sligo Champion that they couldn't cope with Clare in the second half.

"Clare really came at us in waves in the second half and we were cleaned out in the middle eight, there is no other way of describing it," said Carew.

"It was bizarre as we just could not get the ball past midfield and Clare surged through for scores almost at will. I know we have three defeats but it is still in our own hands in the remaining matches against Louth, Armagh and Wexford."
