Gort forward Gerard O'Donoghue believes that the side are more focused for Saturday's All-Ireland club SHC semi-final than they were three years ago.

The Galway side take on Kilkenny kingpins Ballyhale Shamrocks in their second All-Ireland club SHC semi-final since 2012. On that occasion Offaly champions Coolderry proved too strong for Gort.

However, O'Donoghue told the Connacht Tribune that the main focus in 2012 was to win the county title, but he added that their approach this year has been different.

"I suppose looking back, we didn't really prepare for that game because we were just happy to win the county final," said O'Donoghue.

"This time, though, there seems to be a different atmosphere around the place and hopefully we will learn from those experiences and be able to push on.

"Along with those players who lined out on the day, we are lucky that a good few young lads have come through since then. Hopefully that will also stand to us."
