Derry defender Oisin Duffy feels that this year's Division One campaign will see a lot of defensive teams in action.

Following the promotion of Monaghan and Donegal to the top flight, Duffy believes that they will gain experience from playing against defensive counties.

"With those two teams coming up, we'll probably get more experience of playing against more defensive teams. In Division One last year, we got a lot of experience against playing teams that were fairly open," Duffy told the County Derry Post.

"You'll have teams playing more types of systems this year, which will help us. Training to play against it is not the same as a competitive inter-county game. The league's there to prepare you for the championship. You want to maintain your division one status, but you're judged on championship."
