Cork manager Brian Cuthbert has played down their defeat to Waterford in the McGrath Cup.

The Decies recorded a surprise win over Cork last Sunday and straight away there was talk about how poor the Rebels were.

Cuthbert did agree it was a bad performance by them, but he also stressed to the Southern Star that there is a lot of football to be played by the end of the year.

"It's only the middle of January. This time last year we were flying and winning matches all around us, but by the end of the year, we were very disappointed with how it all turned out," said Cuthbert.

"I won't mind if we lose that game last Sunday but our year goes a lot better than it did last year. That would be fine."
