The London senior football championship throws in this weekend.

The reason for the early start is to make players eligible for the London footballers as a player has had to play club championship in that county before lining out for them.

Fulham Irish and Kerry Kingdom Gaels meet at Wormwood Scrubs on Saturday afternoon in what is the big attraction of the weekend.

London manager Paul Coggins admitted to the Irish Post that the timing of the championship is not easy on clubs and stressed that the rule needs to be addressed.

"I think it's very difficult for clubs. It's not right we have to do this," said Coggins. "The situation is there are guys who have come over from Ireland that I see as good enough to play for London. They want to play for London and want to be the nest that they can be.

"The way the rule is, they can't do that unless they play in the London championship first. Hopefully, that will be discussed at Congress."
