Offaly GAA and Croke Park are in talks with Offaly County Council with a view to securing a 999-year lease on a 21-acre site in Kilcormac.

The site, situated halfway between Tullamore and Birr, would be used as a training base for all Offaly inter-county teams. A recent county board meeting heard that the site would comprise four pitches, a gym and multi-purpose clubhouse.

The lack of suitable training facilities was highlighted this year when the Faithful's senior footballers and hurlers were forced to train outside the county. The hurlers trained in Ballingarry, Co. Tipperary and Heywood, Co. Laois, while the footballers had to travel to St. Loman's, Mullingar for some of their training sessions.

Meanwhile, Edenderry GAA has purchased a 10.6-acre site which they intend to develop in the near future.
