Paudie Kissane admits Aidan Walsh's decision to concentrate solely on hurling next year is a huge blow to the Cork footballers.

Retired Cork star Kissane, who won an All-Ireland medal playing alongside Walsh in 2010, said in the Irish Daily Star: "It's like any team, Aidan is a Player of the Year, a two-time All Star, a talented footballer, so he's going to be a loss.

"You can understand it, but only he knows best. He is the one who had to combine the two roles last year so he realised after last year how things worked out that he was caught between two stools. It was a hard call to make. It's a great boost for the hurlers."

The Clyda Rovers clubman, who coached the Clare footballer this year, added: "There are different factors that come into it. The other lads have to decide now, Damien Cahalane and Eoin Cadogan, and time will tell."
