Roscommon SHC final: Four Roads in seventh heaven

October 13, 2014

Eamon Mulry - Roscommon and Four Roads. INPHO

Four Roads 3-11
Athleague 0-11

Four Roads cruised to their seventh successive Mickey Cunniffe Cup success at Athleague yesterday.

The home side led by 0-3 to 0-2 coming up to the quarter-hour mark, but the complexion of the game changed after Eamon Mulry scored a fortuitous goal. With David Dolan in fine form from placed balls, the champions went on to lead by 1-7 to 0-6 at the break.

Athleague closed the gap on the restart thanks to a brace of Gary Fallon points, but Jeff Lynskey's men never looked back after Padraig Kelly made a great catch before firing home their second goal in the 38th minute.

Fallon and David Flaherty replied with points for Athleague before their fate was sealed when substitute John Coyne raised Four Roads' third green flag in stoppage-time.
