Both Eamonn Fitzmaurice and Jim McGuinness learned a thing or two from the respective minor managers this Sunday - Kerry's Jack O'Connor and Donegal's Declan Bonner.

Fitzmaurice won two All-Irelands as a player under O'Connor's guidance in 2004 and '06 and later served his managerial apprenticeship as part of O'Connor's back-room team.

Together they plotted the Kingdom's last successful assault on the Sam Maguire Cup in 2009.

1992 Donegal All-Ireland winner Bonner, meanwhile, managed the Donegal seniors from 1997 to 2000 and McGuinness was one of his star players.

With respected coaches like O'Connor and Bonner prepared to roll up their sleeves, the future of Kerry and Donegal football is in safe hands.
