Martin Penrose is just two games away from winning the one medal that has eluded him during his illustrious football career.
The 30-year-old Tyrone star, whose medal collection includes two All-Ireland senior, three Ulster senior, two Ulster under 21 and one All-Ireland minor, is part of the Carrickmore team that will meet Ardboe in Sunday's Tyrone SFC semi-final. Penrose transferred to the 15-times O'Neill Cup winners from Donegal-border club Aghyaran two years ago, but is still awaiting his first senior county club championship honour.
"As a player you want to be involved in club matches like this. The Tyrone championship is intensely competitive and we know we face a huge task against Ardboe," the experienced attacker told the Belfast Telegraph.
Penrose, who wasn't a regular starter for the Red Hands this year, scored seven out of Carrickmore's 10 points in their 0-10 to 0-8 quarter-final victory over Augher last weekend, and will need to repeat that form if they are to set up a final date with either Omagh, St. Enda's or Dromore, who meet on Saturday.
