Brian Cuthbert says "lucky" Cork are still on course for an All-Ireland quarter-final place.

Having been humbled by Kerry in the Munster final, the Leesiders can get their season back on track with victory over Sligo in Tullamore tomorrow night.

"In truth, we are fortunate to have another game and we're lucky that our season isn't over," the Bishopstown man told The Irish News.

"It would be disappointing if we had to wait seven months or so to put the Kerry defeat behind us so this game against Sligo will be the ultimate test of character for this squad.

"It is a huge opportunity for the squad to pick themselves up and prove to each other more than anyone that they are good enough to get the win and reach the August Bank Holiday weekend in Croke Park.

"That was our aim at the start of the year and hopefully we can achieve that with a good performance on Saturday."
