Armagh players barred from club duty

Another club versus county row is brewing - this time in Armagh.

It has been reported that members of Paul Grimley's senior football squad have been ordered not to line out for their clubs in this weekend's senior and intermediate league games. Instead, they will be involved in Saturday evening's SF challenge against Derry in Derrymacash, which will mark the official reopening of Wolfe Tone GAC's pitch and clubhouse.

It is believed the Armagh management took the decision in the wake of the hamstring injury suffered by star half back Aaron Kernan whilst on duty for Crossmaglen Rangers last weekend.

By contrast, Derry's county players will be available to their clubs on Sunday. The Oak Leafers will face Donegal in their Ulster SFC opener on May 25, while Armagh aren't in action until June 8, when they take on Cavan.
