Ruairi Deane has been included in Cork football manager Brian Cuthbert's 28-man championship panel.

The Bantry Blues clubman was recently given the all-clear to resume playing football - barely a month after a cruciate ligament injury looked to have ended his season.

The midfielder, who captained the Rebels to All-Ireland junior glory last year and figured in the first three rounds of this year's Allianz League against Westmeath, Kildare and Dublin, suffered a torn cruciate ligament during a county training session in early March. But much to his amazement and absolute delight, the injury healed itself and he has been duly recalled to the county fold.

Four players who featured in the league campaign - John McLoughlin, Kevin O'Driscoll, Micheal Ó Laoire and Alan Cronin Jr - have been omitted from the squad, while wing back Kevin Crowley is the only U21 player to make the cut. However, eight other U21s have been named in the development squad.

Cork will open their Munster SFC campaign with a semi-final against either Tipperary or Limerick on June 16.
