Michael Darragh Macauley will take part in a 10k charity run after lining out for Dublin in Sunday's Allianz Football League final.

The Footballer of the Year has signed up for the Samsung Night Run, which is being held simultaneously in Dublin and Cork city centres at 9pm on Sunday. And Macauley has no intention of taking it easy as his finishing time could have a bearing on the result of what is effectively a Dublin v Cork challenge.

"I'm going to be under pressure," he explained to the Irish Independent.

"Bryan Cullen did the exact same last year. He played in the league final and ran this event in a serious time as well. I'm going to be a busy man that night. I've signed up 20 of my friends, so they're putting me under pressure as well."

The Ballyboden St. Enda's clubman dismisses the notion that Dublin are going to have it easy against surprise finalists Derry this weekend.

"They're going to be hard to beat and they've got some outstanding players. We found out firsthand how good they are when they beat us in Derry," he stressed.

"Derry might have been a surprise package but it's not a surprise any more. It's going to be a big challenge."
