The Mayo player on the receiving end of Stephen Cluxton's stray foot on Saturday night has given his side of the story.

The Dublin netminder was sent for an early shower in the 29th minute of the Croker clash against Mayo after kicking out at Kevin McLoughlin as he tried to prevent him from taking a quick kick-out.

Knockmore clubman McLoughlin said to the Examiner: "I just felt a bit of a kick. It kind of hurt.

"I ran in his way to stop him kicking the ball out quickly and I think he just retaliated.

"He felt I went over the line a bit. It was the ref's decision after that." Tweet
