Clare won't forfeit home advantage if Cusack Park can't host Sunday's league opener against Kilkenny.

There are concerns that the big Division 1A opener in Ennis might fall victim to the extraordinary weather - especially with more stormy conditions forecast for today and tomorrow morning.

Clare officials are keeping a close eye on the condition of the pitch and are currently confident that the match - expected to attract between 7,000 and 10,000 spectators - will go ahead.

Clare moved last weekend's NFL Division Four game against Leitrim from Cusack Park to Miltown Malbay - but they do not have an alternative venue that could accommodate a potential five-figure crowd.

Speculation that the All-Ireland champions could be asked to stage the game in the Gaelic Grounds is inaccurate. In the event of Sunday's match being postponed, it will be re-fixed for the same venue on the next available date.
