Belfast Tribute to Clare

January 16, 2014

Behind the Banner DVD
Davy Fitzgerald's amazing journey with Clare from relative obscurity to winning the Liam McCarthy cup after arguably the best ever All Ireland Hurling Championship Final will be relived and celebrated in Belfast this weekend.

Bredagh GAC will host a panel discussion to talk through the season and they will re-run video showing key moments from games as well as fascinating insights from the 'Behind the Banner' DVD.

"Clare had a camera with them all year and the DVD really tells the story superbly," says Bredagh's Anne Costello (nee O'Connor) who is Patrick O'Connor's Aunt. "Sunday is a must for any hurling or camogie fans in the North."

Wexford U21 manager and 3-in-a-row All Ireland Camogie winning manager JJ Doyle will be on the panel along with Danny Hughes (Down) and Seamus McKillop (Antrim), with Jerome Quinn at the mike in An Droicheaid Hall on on the Ormeau Road.

The event takes place on Sunday 19 January, between 2 and 5pm. Tickets are on sale or can be purchased at the door - adults £10, Students £3 and U16 free.
