Michael Ryan won't be returning to the Waterford hurling manager's position next year.

Ryan resigned from the post last month following a players' heave against him, but in spite of this, he had been nominated by a number of clubs. However, it was confirmed to local radio WLR today that the Fourmilewater man won't be re-interviewing for the position.

He follows Kilkenny legend DJ Carey in withdrawing from the race, leaving former player and selector Peter Queally and De La Salle manager Derek McGrath to battle it out to succeed Ryan. Tweet
