DJ Carey is out of the Waterford senior hurling manager's race.

The Cats legend was nominated for the vacancy but, apparently, isn't interested in succeeding Michael Ryan.

The Irish Examiner reports that nominations closed on Monday night and Derek McGrath and Peter Queally are the leading candidates.

There is also renewed speculation that former players John Mullane and Stephen Molumphy will be available next year. Tweet
