Downes doubtful for semi

Limerick's Kevin Downes celebrates scoring a goal.
Kevin Downes has emerged as a major doubt for Limerick's All-Ireland hurling semi-final on August 18 after breaking a toe in training.

Downes suffered the injury this week, meaning he has barely three weeks to regain fitness ahead of what is the Treaty County's biggest game since the 2007 All-Ireland final.

The young Na Piarsaigh clubman didn't start Limerick's memorable Munster final victory over Cork last Sunday week, but scored two points after being introduced late in the game. Limerick will find out who their last four opponents will be after Sunday's two All-Ireland quarter-finals in Thurles.
