Cavan character pleases Forde

Cavan assistant manager Anthony Forde was delighted with the character the players showed in their win over Armagh.

"We just hung in there," he said in the Irish News.

"We had a bad patch in the second half. In other years, when a team got on a bit of a run, we might have folded.

"But this team has character and spirit. A win was critical for this bunch of young players today. That is helped by the winning mentality over the last couple of years.

"You saw Feargal Flanagan there today, Jason McLoughlin on Jamie Clarke. I don't think Jamie Clarke scored. What an exhibition from a young lad coming onto the senior team. This is only his second year with the seniors. Outstanding."
