Carlow manager John Meyler was happy with his sides second half display, after they claimed a 10-point win over London in the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship at Dr. Cullen Park this afternoon.

Carlow shot 10 wides in the opening 35 minutes and led by just five points at the break, but were far more clinical on the restart, with just three misses and doubling their lead by the full-time whistle.

Substitute Craig Doyle was in inspirational form, bagging 3-2, while teenager Jack Kavanagh registered seven points, and was deadly-accurate from placed balls.

"I was happy with the performance," Meyler said.

"Obviously they were sharper and fitter than London, and in the last 10 minutes when Craig Doyle got a couple of goals it might have put a gloss on the score-line.

"The first half performance wasn't great. We hit 10 wides and they were wides in front of the goals, which we should have put over.

"We have things to work on for two weeks time against Laois or Antrim."

Meyler conceded his side were nervous coming into this match.

"Carlow were nervous today. Stepping into the dressing room before the game I could see that they were nervous, because they hadn't won a Championship match before and with London coming over, the pressure was on Carlow really to perform.

"They did and they thankfully got the job done. We'll forget about that now and get on for two weeks time.

"We've played Antrim three times already (this year) and we've played Laois in a challenge match. It's going to be 10 times harder. It's going to be real championship hurling, so we are looking forward to that in two weeks time."
