Chairman's backing for manager

Antrim chairman Jim Murray has given his full support to Frank Dawson continuing as football manager.

Dawson's position was rumoured to be under threat after Tomas McCann and Tony Scullion were controversially axed from the squad for attending a relative's anniversary Mass on the morning of Antrim's defeat to Monaghan - which sealed their relegation to Division 4 of the Allianz Football League - last Sunday.

Antrim chiefs held a meeting on Tuesday night, but it had nothing to do with the axings, according to Murray.

"As far as I am concerned, they are part of the plan. Frank indicated it is still on-going and the management team will go through the process of picking the team for the championship," the chairman told the Irish Daily Star.

"Frank is there for the long haul. It's mountains out of molehills. Everything is fine. There was a pre-dated review before the championship and that went ahead as normal and we are looking forward to the rest of the year."
