Lambert's Sigerson history
28 February 2013
DIT celebrate their Sigerson Cup win in Athlone
Wicklow's Robert Lambert made history as DIT's Sigerson Cup winning goalkeeper.
As DIT claimed the Sigerson for the first time ever, defeating UCC in the decider, the Aughrim clubman wrote his own special chapter ... maintaining a clean sheet for the entire campaign.
"It was a fantastic win," the netminder is quoted in The Wicklow People. "It was good to keep a clean sheet but it was a real team performance all through the field.
"All the lads defended well when we didn't have the ball, from corner forward back."
Lambert was one of two Wicklow men on the all-conquering side. He was joined by Baltinglass and Wicklow's John McGrath, who came on in the second half.
