LIT, DIT and UL secured their places in the quarter-finals of the Irish Daily Mail Fitzgibbon Cup today.

IN Group C Limerick IT and DCU played a winner takes all ties to see who would qualify along with UCD from the group. The result was never in doubt as LIT cantered to a 3-23 to 0-10 win.

In Group D St Patricks/Mater Dei hosted DIT and the visitors claimed a hard fought 1-16 to 1-12 win, which ensured them of top spot in the group and also saw UL qualify in second place.

Group A's crucial tie was between GMIT and Mary I, with the Limerick college coming away from Carnmore with a 2-14 to 1-8 win. That guaranteed Mary I a last eight ticket and UCC also qualified after a 1-13 to 0-14 win over NUIG.

This evening WIT defeated Cork IT by 3-15 to 2-8 in Carriganore.
