More experimentation for McGuinness

It was no surprise that Jim McGuinness didn't throw any of his All-Ireland winners into Dr McKenna Cup action against Fermanagh last night.

The Sam Maguire holders only returned from a holiday in Dubai on Tuesday so McGuinness used the game to experiment with a number of fringe players.

The same policy will apply when they take on Monaghan at home in Ballybofey on Sunday.

The McKenna Cup doesn't feature too highly on his list of priorities.

"It would've been foolish to throw anyone in there and possibly put them in danger after the long flight and trip home yesterday," McGuinness explained to The Irish Examiner.

"Just trying to find one player who can add a bit of value to the thing, that's what the McKenna Cup is about for us."
