Meath's Colm O'Rourke
Meath look set to appoint a former player as manager after clubs put forward their nominations.

Closing date for clubs to nominate candidates for the position left by Seamus McEnaney was on Friday evening and the list is a who's who of former Meath players.

Among those nominated are current RTE pundit Colm O'Rourke, who has been continuously linked with the position in the past as well as Graham Geraghty, who worked under 'Banty' as selector and who has expressed an interest in the job.

Liam Harnan is another that has worked with McEnaney during his reign is also nominated as is Gerry McEntee and Sean Kelly. However, it remains to be seen if all these will let their names go forward for the position.

A source told hoganstand.com that Kelly was not inclined to let his name go forward for the position, while it remains to be seen if O'Rourke would be willing to step away from his job with RTE.

Geraghty is believed to have outgoing coach John Evans as part of his backroom team if chosen, but McEntee could emerge as favourite if interested, given his experience with Dublin minors and St Brigid's.

The Meath county board are expected to have their decision known by the October meeting, given the new manager the opportunity to look at the latter stages of the club championship.
