Fans turn their backs on Dublin hurlers
July 05, 2012
The Dublin hurlers won't have much support in Ennis for Saturday's All-Ireland qualifier against Clare if ticket sales are anything to go by.
With just 48 hours to go to the do-or-die clash, less than 1,000 tickets have been sold in the capital. Despite the lack of interest among Dublin fans, Clare county board is still expecting a 13,000 sell-out (Cusack Park's capacity has been halved for health and safety reasons) for a game that pits former team-mates Anthony Daly and Davy Fitzgerald against one another.
Dublin boss Daly isn't surprised that so many supporters are opting to stay at home after his side's dismal Leinster SHC semi-final display against Kilkenny.
"After the performance we gave the last day, you couldn't expect that too many people would make the three-hour trip down," he told The Evening Herald.
