Dublin sent out a chilling warning to the remaining teams in the Cadbury Leinster U21FC when they trounced Laois by 23 points in a surprisingly one-sided quarter-final at Parnell Park last night.

When these teams met at minor level three years ago, Dublin only prevailed after extra-time, but they had everything their own way on this occasion to easily progress to a semi-final meeting with Westmeath in Navan in two weeks' time. The writing was on the wall for Pat Roe's Laois side when the hosts raced into a five-point lead inside the first 12 minutes thanks to scores from Ciaran Kilkenny (three), Philly Ryan and Gary Sweeney.

2010 All-Ireland winner Sweeney was highly influential at centre forward for Jim Gavin's men and it was his pass that sent Ryan on his way for the opening goal on the quarter-hour mark. Laois senior Damien O'Connor responded with his side's first point, but Dublin hit back with a flurry of points from sub Paul Hudson, Emmet O Conghaile, Kilkenny and Sweeney to lead by 1-11 to 0-1 at the break.

It continued to be one-way traffic in the second half with substitute Gerry Seaver's 51st minute goal completing a miserable night for the O'Moore County.
