Sunderland: win would set us up nicely

Kildare take on Meath in the opening round of the NHL Div 2B at Pairc Tailteann
Kildare manager Willie Sunderland is eager for his side to get off to winning start in the NHL.

The Lilywhites begin life in Division 2B with a trip to Pairc Tailteann, Navan where they face a tough opener against a Meath side which will also be eyeing promotion.

Sunderland feels that preparations have been going very well over the past few weeks and he is confident that the right result can be achieved.

"In terms of commitment things are going very well. We have 30 plus players at training every night and I'm told that's not normal in Kildare. Some of the older guys on the panel say that things are much better than they use to be, so that's pleasing," Sunderland admitted to the Leinster Leader.

"At the end of the day it's all about winning though, but I think the players have bought in to what we're trying to do and they are improving. The Meath game is hugely important for us. A win would set us up nicely."
