DCU look to be the team to beat in this year's Irish Daily Mail Sigerson Cup after they breezed past the challenge of Dublin rivals DIT in Glasnevin yesterday.

After a slow start, the 2010 champions took complete control to leave nobody in any doubt about their title credentials. By the end of the first quarter, they had opened up a 0-5 to 0-2 lead and could have been further ahead had Dean Rock not had his penalty saved by DIT goalkeeper Alan O'Mara.

But DCU made amends for that miss when Antoin McFadden found the net to give them a 1-8 to 0-2 interval lead.

DIT's hopes of getting back into the game were effectively ended when Alan Freeman's penalty was saved by Michael Boyle early in the second half. The home side were never troubled thereafter as points form Philly McMahon, Rock and Eoghan O'Gara eased them into the last four.
