Murphy denies Kildare link

Carlow's Brendan Murphy
Carlow midfielder Brendan Murphy has become the latest player linked with a move to Kildare.

Reports in many national papers have stated that Cavan forward Seanie Johnston is seeking a move to the Lilywhites and now Murphy's name has been linked to the Leinster county.

However, the International Rules star has denied any suggestion of a move and he told the Carlow Nationalist "no it's not true."

Carlow chairman Michael Meaney has also denied that the player will be leaving the Barrowsiders and he is confident that their star midfielder will stay with the county.

"I have heard a lot of speculation for many years about Brendan moving to different counties but he hasn't moved yet, so I can't see him moving now," Meaney stated to the provincial paper.

If Murphy was to leave he would become the second high profile player to leave the county after Thomas Walsh transferred to Wicklow a few years back, before returning to Carlow.
