U21FC: Wexford book final date

March 24, 2011
Wexford 1-10
Carlow 0-9

Wexford saw off Carlow at O'Moore Park, Portlaoise on Wednesday night to book their place in the Cadbury Leinster U21 Football Championship final.

The Slaneysiders recovered from a four point early deficit (0-5 to 0-1) to completely dominate the next half hour, putting together an unbroken sequence of 1-8 to effectively put the result beyond doubt.

The goal came from a Conor Carty penalty just before half time, while Emmet Kent and Kevin O'Grady chipped over a brace of points each from play.

Ahead by seven points, they took the foot off the pedal and Carlow hit four points in the final quarter, with Darragh Foley the scorer-in-chief, but Wexford held on with something to spare.
