Croke Park Stadium Director Peter McKenna takes in the view from the new look Hill 16
Croke Park stadium director Peter McKenna isn't opposed to a motion passed at last weekend's Limerick county convention which calls for the controversial fencing in front of Hill 16 to be removed.

The Milford motion was passed and will now be considered by the GAA's Management Committee, despite opposition from the county executive. If it gets through that stage, it will appear on the agenda at April's annual Congress in Mullingar.

McKenna told The Irish Daily Star: "Everybody would support Limerick's motion - once it's safe to do so. At the moment, it's not safe and that's only reason for it.

"It was an escalated response (to erect the fencing) as the year progressed and the Martin Sludden incident showed that we had to take it to the next level.

"For the two All-Ireland finals, it worked. Tipperary and Cork were both able to celebrate in their own way and it was very interesting to see how the Down players came over and congratulated the Cork footballers.

"Tipperary also got the full lap on honour of the pitch. It was different, but no less important to players."
