Derry SFC: Coleraine to provide final opposition for Ballinderry

September 13, 2010
Coleraine reached their first ever Derry SFC final when they defeated Ballinascreen by 1-9 to 1-7 at Banagher on Saturday.

Their opponents in the decider will be Ballinderry who scored two goals in injury-time to record a dramatic 3-10 to 1-15 victory over Lavey at Greenlough. A Raymond Wilkinson goal helped Ballinderry to a 1-5 to 0-5 interval lead, but Lavey were level within three minutes of the restart thanks to a Paul Hearty strike.

Lavey dominated thereafter, but were caught at the death by sucker-punch goals from substitute Gavan McGeehen and James Conway.

In only their third season in senior football, Coleraine qualified for their first ever final at Ballinascreen's expense. They led by 1-7 to 1-3 at half-time, but Ballinascreen piled on the pressure late on and it took a goal-line stop from county star Sean Leo McGoldrick in injury-time to keep Coleraine's noses in front.
