Munster IHC: Rebels retain crown

July 23, 2010
Cork produced a late comeback to retain their Munster IHC title at Waterford's expense in front of nearly 3,000 spectators at Fraher Field, Dungarvan last night.

Cork 0-15
Waterford 0-13

Waterford were the better side in the first half, being full value for their 0-7 to 0-5 interval lead. Indiscipline cost the Cork defence dear as Waterford corner forward Mark Gorman scored four points from frees, while they also missed a 12th minute penalty when Mark Harrington's effort was deflected out for a '65 by John O'Leary.

The home side looked set for victory when they surged five points clear on the restart, but points from Harrington and Michael O'Sullivan brought Cork back into it before Harrington levelled the scoring at 0-12 each in the 57th minute.

Substitute Tomas Ryan immediately restored the Deise lead, but Barry MacGearailt restored parity for the visitors before late efforts from Bill Cooper and John Halbert completed the comeback.
